Individual Therapy


WHAT IS INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING?

Individual counseling is a process in which a client works one-on-one with a therapist in a safe, compassionate, and confidential environment in order to explore their thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and/or behaviors around challenging issues that they have faced in the past or presently face.

IS INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING RIGHT FOR ME?

Individual therapy may be helpful if you feel overwhelmed by any of the following challenges and would like to learn alternative ways of coping with or addressing these challenges: depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, and self-esteem issues.

WHAT DOES THE THERAPIST DO IN INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING?

As your therapist, I acknowledge and work with you as a whole person. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment to empower, support, challenge, and encourage you. As your therapist, I can help you learn and apply the skills you need to reach your goals, help you examine unhelpful patterns of thoughts and interactions in your life, and offer you insight that may lead to healing and change.

HOW CAN COUNSELING BENEFIT ME?

While the benefits of individual therapy cannot be guaranteed, an individual has the potential to experience a variety of benefits- some of which include the following: feeling supported and “heard” learning problem-solving skills and learning how to practically apply them in their everyday lives; and enhancing coping strategies for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, and self-esteem issues. Overall, individual therapy can help an individual begin to shift their perspective on a challenging issue or life experience in order to further help them envision ways in which they can begin to address the challenging issue. To assist in this process, I provide a safe environment for you to tell your story and feel heard. In addition to this, I offer emotional support, guidance, and promote healthy coping strategies for you to examine where you are and envision where you want to be.
